About

Reuben De Melo portrait

Caught between two worlds.
Songs for the moments that matter.

Reuben De Melo grew up in Perth and has spent much of his adult life working fly-in fly-out across Western Australia's iron ore industry. He's a husband, father of three, and someone who's always found himself caught between two worlds — hard hats and stages, mine sites and songwriting.

"I write songs for the people who can't find the words—because there've been plenty of times in my own life when a song was just what I needed."

After The Voice Australia in 2024, Reuben released his debut EP, When the Show's All Over — a collection of songs exploring life beyond the spotlight, and the moments that matter when the cameras stop rolling.

Since then, he's been back in the studio, quietly building the next chapter. His upcoming single, Monsters and Men, arrives on July 9 and continues the honest storytelling that's become the hallmark of his songwriting.

The path hasn't always been conventional, but neither are the songs.
